Today is a New Day

You may have had an argument with a loved one; you may have experienced a loss so great it shakes your foundation; or you may have done or said something that you wish you could take back. All these things can shake our foundation and cause angst, grief, bitterness, sadness, or down-right anger! Alas, today is a new day and a new chance to get it right.

If we allow the sorrows of yesterday to invade the peace and solitude of today, we’re merely stuck in a trap of negativity that can be all consuming if we don’t tap into the positive things of today. While you may be feeling some kind of way about whatever it is you experienced hours ago, try not to allow it to take up too much of your time in the present. As it has been written before, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present” – a gift that we can savor and enjoy or allow old things to fester and rot our spirits. The choice to make today a new and glorious one starts with leaving the baggage of yesterday in the trunk of our past.
